Hi Friends!
If you could only choose one pair of shoes from your closet to wear all week, what pair would it be? Let’s make that question even more interesting….if you could choose any pair of shoes (from your favorite shoe place in the mall or maybe from your friend’s closet) to wear for an entire week, what pair would it be?
Are you having a hard time deciding? I know, me too! There are just too many fun shoes out there.
We all have our favorites. I tend to be a sports shoes kind of girl. And they keep making them in so many new fun colors! My favorite shoes are on my feet right now. Navy blue Nike Flex running shoes with a turquoise tongue and laces. Oh yeah, and a hot pink swoosh. If my budget allowed, I’d get this same pair in every color they offer.
All girls love shoes, right? It’s weird that boys aren’t into them as much. Most boys I know own a pair of black shoes and maybe a pair of brown shoes and a couple of pairs of athletic shoes. They sometimes have flip-flops or cowboy boots too, but they don’t spend much time thinking about them and planning outfits around them. They’re just like, “Oh yeah, I guess I’ll throw these things on my feet now.” Girls are more like, “It’s only Monday, but my friend’s party is Friday and I have to decide by then if I want to wear the white fuzzy boots, the pink sparkly flats, the turquoise sandals, or the purple sequined flip-flops. Well…if it rains then I might consider the red polka-dotted rain boots that I bought on clearance ….”
This blog post is about shoes. But not necessarily the kind we’ve been talking about. It’s about Good News Shoes. These shoes are free, and they come from God, your Heavenly Father. This is what the Bible says about these “Good News Shoes,”
“For shoes, put on the peace that comes from the Good News so that you will be fully prepared.” Ephesians 5:16 NLT
Huh? What does that mean? Well, when we invite Jesus Christ to be the Lord of our life, and ask him to forgive our sin, He gives us peace with God. And that’s real peace! Jesus himself said,
“I am leaving you with a gift—peace of mind and heart. And the peace I give is a gift the world cannot give. So don’t be troubled of afraid.”
Yeah, the peace Jesus brings is more powerful than that peace sign we see all over clothes these days. And “Jesus peace” prepares us to face whatever life brings us each day without fear.
So, let’s choose again! If you could wear any pair of shoes for a whole week, which pair would it be? For me, it would be a shiny new pair of “Good News Shoes.”
How about you?
