Well, it’s been awhile since I’ve blogged about shoes. I guess it’s because I’ve been writing books about shoes, but that’s no excuse! I hope 2016 will contain many more blogging days and meetings with awesome girls like our Good News Shoes Girl – Natalie!
About 2 years ago, I met Natalie accidentally while reading some random book reviews on-line. Natalie had taken the time to write a nice review of Riley Mae books one and two. Her review was a huge encouragement to me! I can’t remember what happened next, but somehow we ended up emailing each other, and then Natalie interviewed me on-line. She posted the interview on her mom’s blog Hobbies on a Budget. Then, after reading Riley Mae book three, Natalie put together an “about the author” slide show and posted it on the same blog. It is clear to me that Natalie has gifts of encouragement, but she also knows how to use technology. (I could sure use some pointers, Natalie!)
Natalie is now 11 years old, and she loves singing, playing piano, reading (yeah!) and having fun with friends and family. Her favorite Bible verse is Psalm 56:3: “But when I am afraid, I will trust in you.” I love that verse! I think it is one every Faithgirl should memorize, and also share with her friends.
Natalie’s favorite shoes are flip-flops! I think many girls would agree with her. I am really in a flip-flop mood lately, too, probably since the new Riley Mae book I am writing is about flip-flops.
I only have one question for Natalie. Do your toes ever get cold?
If so, you might want to check some of these out:
Seeing this picture makes me want to go warm my own toes near a fire. I think I’ll grab a good book to read too. I may finish reading Isaiah 9. This morning I was reading my favorite verse in the Bible about Christmas. Normally people go to Luke 2 for a popular Christmas verse (you should check that one out too), but this one in Isaiah really fills me with hope. This is what it says:
“For a child is born to us, a son is given to us. The government will rest on his shoulders. And he will be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.” (Isaiah 9:6)
That child was Jesus! And of all the birthdays we celebrate all year, his is the best, because it marks the day when God came to earth to begin the process of bringing sinful men, women and children back into a right relationship with him.
Thinking of that Good News warms my heart–and my toes!
Go out and share the warmth, Good News Girls!
